The world premiere of “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” movie shut down on Thursday an entire block in Hollywood and filled up two historic theaters with fans and VIPs including “Star Wars” creator George Lucas and Amazon.com Inc Chief Executive Jeff Bezos.
The movie, which is about the early years of the space saga’s famous smuggler, begins rolling out in international theaters on May 23.
The original “Star Wars” trilogy began in 1977 starring by Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing, Alec Guinness, Kenny Baker, and more. In the latest Star Wars movie Alden Ehrenreich, 28, stepped into the role of a younger Solo just beginning his pilot training and seeking his own spaceship when he becomes involved in a dangerous mission in the galaxy far, far away.
Disney in hope for audiences to embrace the movie hired Ron Howard finished the film after firing the original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
“This was a very unusual circumstance, and I decided to take it on frankly as a kind of a challenge,” Howard said on the red carpet. “I’m so glad that I jumped in.”

Box office experts predict fans the movie could bring in as much as $185 million over Memorial Day weekend, which would be a record for that holiday period.
