Gassama the 'Spider-Man': Thank God I saved him.

May 29, 2018

An illegal immigrant from Mali, Mamoudou Gassama, risked his life on Sunday to save the four-year-old child who was clinging to a railing of a fourth-floor balcony and glancing at the ground below.

As the amateur video with Gassama rescuing the child went viral the people of France granted him the nickname “Spider-Man” and that wasn’t all.

The President Emmanuel Macron offered to the illegal immigrant a meeting at the Elysee Palace where he congratulated Gassama for “an exceptional act” and promised him for a fast-tracked citizenship.

“We’ll obviously be setting all your papers straight and if you wish it, we will start the process of naturalization so that you can become French,” Macron said.

Following wars in Libya and Syria, since 2015, Europe is facing the migrant crisis where more than 1 million people from Africa and the Middle East have reached the continent via Turkey or by sea.

Macron's government has stated to be firm and fair on immigrants but recently they passed a parliament law in tightening asylum rules.

Honouring the brave immigrant Macron, who had been criticized by left-wing voters for his tough stance on immigration, has sent a message to the Socialist voters that he welcome attitude to a deserving migrant.

“Gassama’s heroic gesture was an example for all citizens and that the City of Paris will obviously be keen to support him in his efforts to settle in France,” Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said.

The Child’s father, who left his son alone to go shopping and playing Pokemon Go, an enhanced reality game, was arrested.

“His behaviour constitutes an offence, failing to honour parental responsibilities, which carries a possible sentence of two years in jail,” Molins said.

Gassama the "Spider-Man" who stated to the French newspaper Le Parisien “I climbed... Thank God I saved him.” is being offered a spell of community service work at the Paris emergency services. An official website says the work pays about 480 euros ($558) a month for a fixed 11-month period.
