Hundred Protesters arrested on 65th Putin’s birthday!


Vladimir Putin, the Russian ruler since 1999 either as Prime Minister or as President of the country, celebrated yesterday his 65th birthday with thousand Protesters shouting "Putin is a thief".

Putin announcement that will run again for Russia President on March 2018 as well as the imprisonment of Alexei Navalny, the only candidate opposite Putin, has exorbitated part of the Russians.

Although Public Assembly Laws since Putin's presidency do not allow legally organized protests, yesterday thousands of demonstrators marched across Russia chanting “Russia will be free” and “Russia without Putin”.

The anti-Putin Protesters called for the Russian president to retire, they demand Freedom of Speech and asked for jailed Alexei Navalny, the only contender opposed to Putin, to be allowed to take part in the next presidential elections.

In St Petersburg, 1,500 activists waving red and white banners gathered in a square before heading for the city’s main street shouting “Putin is a thief” and “Free Navalny”.

Russian police arrested yesterday around the country 290 protesters, the highest numbers of arrests were in Putin's birthplace of St. Petersburg, where 68 people were taken into police custody.
